1. What makes your district so special?

In Reinickendorf, diverse forest and water landscapes meet lively urban districts. Out into nature and into the city - that doesn't have to be a contradiction, because in Reinickendorf you can experience and enjoy nature with all your senses in many places. Many motivated people and institutions offer educational and adventure programs and take a closer look with you: at urban nature, the climate, our resources, in gardens and lakes or at sustainable urban development. The district is changing and this can be seen, for example, at the former Tegel Airport, where the newly reclaimed open spaces are being transformed into a green, sustainable and diversely used urban quarter.

2. Which green and sustainable places does our district have to offer?

In the district, the Tegeler See, Flughafensee and Heiligensee lakes offer cooling off in summer and an exciting world of flora and fauna. You can explore the secrets of the moors and wetlands along the Tegeler Fließ and watch water buffalo. Green spaces along the Packereigraben or the city parks such as Steinbergpark, Göschenpark or Schäfersee offer space for relaxation, walks and leisure activities. The large forest areas of Jungfernheide and Tegeler Forst are not only home to many forest dwellers, but also to the oldest tree in Berlin and the Baumberge as a special inland dune landscape.
Reinickendorf also offers educational facilities such as the gardening school, a family farm, the youth research ship and neighborhood gardens. They invite you to research, feel, discuss, plan and help shape the area.

3. Whicht are topics that we are most concerned with in the district?

As a coordination office, we exist to make educational offers on the topics of nature, the environment, climate and sustainability more accessible for you and all people in the district, to network providers and users and to support green learning locations. For us, the city and nature belong together. That is why we are working as a mediating and activating interface to build a broad network with educational actors, representatives from administration, neighbourhood management, civil society organizations, nature conservation associations and interested parties. Together, we want to promote sustainable, ecological and socially responsible projects for a future worth living in the district. Another focus is the development of information and advisory services for nature and environmental education as well as training formats.
